In spite of operating in unstable regions and conflict zones, we have been successful in fulfilling our objectives. Our programming in East Africa and the Horn has evolved into a unique social movement driven by local network partners, incorporating low-resource methods and cultural practices to build peer support groups.

GSN’s various programs are dedicated to making healing-centered, peer-led resources accessible to communities across East Africa and the Horn, in order to promote relational well-being, social healing, and increased resilience. Our long-term goal is the creation of a just society by providing access to resources that support empowered individuals to take control of their healing journey.

Through the use of local folktales, case studies, and watercolor paintings, participants can easily connect and understand complex ideas related to violence, trauma, social healing, and dialogue.

Breaking cycles

Our emphasis is on narratives that break the “cycles of violence” and develop community-led peace initiatives while promoting a shift away from a victimhood mentality with the involvement of leadership at all levels.

Healing Circles

Volunteer-based programs provide a safe space for individuals and groups, including youth leaders, at-risk youth, women's groups, GBV survivors, religious leaders, the hearing-impaired, and the business community.

Circle Keepers

Circle Keepers are individuals trained to lead the 12-week community peer support circles. To be accredited, they undergo a 12-month Certification in Applied Community-Initiated Care, offered by Tangaza University in conjunction with GSN.

Circle Keepers are responsible for creating a safe space for and monitoring the conversations in and quality of their Circle. They are leaders supporting people to own their own healing processes.
